As a member of CERT, a FEMA program to increase community resilience in disasters whose future is currently uncertain, I found myself in need of some high quality maps of town which would show the names of every street in the town where I live. This eventually led me to QGIS, a geodata visualization package which allows the user to create their own programmatic styles for map elements which can produce any kind of map. Here I wanted fairly simple flat maps, with very high readability. These are based on US Census TIGER 2024 mapdata, with some elements from OpenStreetMap. Both the maps and the QGIS data are works in progress.

What I'm presenting to you here today are two PDFs, one for Rio Dell and one for Scotia, which are formatted to be printed at 24x36. The exact map features used vary with the availability of public geodata. The same QGIS document can be used to produce area maps. These files are compressed with 7-Zip.
