I have recently got a 2008 Versa Note S, also known as a C11 or Tiida, and I've been driving it to work. It has been disintegrating a bit (the front suspension is very sloppy now) but okay, I'll deal with that, it's a 15 year old car. But what I couldn't deal with was the stereo, which was an in-dash 3 CD changer with no aux input.
I had noticed when I was looking for android head units (HUs) for my F150 (more on that someday) that some of them were designed to go into specific vehicles, with significant plastics to integrate them into the vehicle in an aesthetically pleasing fashion. And what I settled on was an ac8227-based unit known probably among many other names as a Jansite S4. I was really aiming for the lowest possible price point while also still having something that would basically function, and that's what this is. It has 2GB RAM and 32GB flash, and a 9.7" portrait-oriented XGA-resolution display. The display is supposedly QLED backlit, which it may or may not be, but it is a glass screen and it is very bright.
You can buy this unit under many many names, the name of the "company store" I got it from was Srnubi and the PDF manuals and the sticker on the cable say Jansite. Jansite has their own website, which is a bit more impressive looking than just an aliexpress store, but I still don't get the impression they actually manufacture anything.
I'm not going to go into detail on how the install goes, because it's relatively self-explanatory once you figure out how to remove some things. I had to make some minor modifcations to the vent assemblies, involving shortening some tabs and drilling holes in them. I also had to drill a hole in the bottom mounting bracket for the climate control bezel. This might be a LHD vs. RHD difference, or an early vs. late facelift difference, but either way the plastics do fit okay. I also have an air bag warning LED, which I think is ironically because I don't have the passenger airbag disabled light hooked up. It's pretty easy to get back in there though, and I'm going to try fixing that here in a moment... Making that work with this bezel is going to take some more work that I don't care to do right now, or possibly ever.
