The temporary placement of the CDR on my custom F250 intake was apparently a little too temporary and I lost it on the way home the other day. So I hustled out and picked up another one from a GM 6.5 liter diesel in a van at Last Mile in Upper Lake.
The GM 6.5 that decorates so many wrecking yards so profusely, also known as Allison's greatest mistake, has a CDR much like (hopefully very much like) that on the International-Navistar 6.9/7.3 in the Fords. It's mounted on a bracket on the passenger side (at least on the van I pulled it from) and it's quite easy to remove it from the vehicle. It's fed by a fitted hose which connects to the oil fill tube at the front of the 6.5, and the output runs into a Y-tube which then leads to both sides of the intake plenum.
As you can see from the picture, I retained the bracket, although I did modify it considerably. This mounting location is probably temporary, and it needs more work to be very securely mounted in any case. I do however appreciate the fact that it is well-isolated from shock when mounted this way. I haven't quite ironed out the connection into the valve cover but I suspect that purchasing a one inch hose barb (the single-lip kind) is the way to go.
